"MOOSE" Nick's 1959 GMC 9310

"MOOSE" Nick's 1959 GMC 9310

Completed: May 2024

This 1959 GMC is as good as it gets. The truck is so rust free that we dove right into the fun stuff.

Exterior

The exterior of the truck features a killer patina, brown smoothie wheels, wide white wall tires, and some 100 plus year old barn wood in the bed. A custom aluminum frame was built for the center of the bed allowing you to lift and display the work below.

Chassis & Suspension

The chassis is the factory frame using a Mustang II in the front and 4-link in the rear along with a custom step notch. We decided to run a bag-on-bar setup which offers an incredibly smooth ride and optimum lift out of the Airlift D2600 bags.

The air ride system features Airlift 3P management, dual Viair compressors, and a Flo Performance air tank. To top it off, a set of aluminum hardlines exit the manifold and are held symmetrical with a custom set of Billet line clamps.

Drivetrain

As for the drivetrain... We chose to build a 6.0 LS2. Nick wanted a modern engine but didn't want to sacrifice the nostalgic look of a SBC. Right away, we installed a BTR cam, springs, and upgraded trunnion kit.

Then it was time to make the engine look the part. A Holley intake manifold, top-mount throttle body, coil pack relocation, and a retro-style air cleaner helped accomplish this. After all that, the engine needed a little color—we sprayed the whole engine in "Hugger" orange.

Dressing up the front of the motor is the Holley mid-mount accessory drive. The transmission is a 4L65E with a slightly higher stall converter, keeping this truck very street friendly. Behind all of that is a Quick Performance Ford 9" delivering the power to the ground.

Interior

The interior is tastefully done with a simple black seat and carpet. Restomod Air keeps the cabin hot/cool with billet controls built into the factory radio delete panel.

A full audio setup was built out for this truck with 4 JL Audio speakers and a powered 8" JL Subwoofer behind the seat. This truck sounds amazing inside and out!

On the dash is a custom set of Dakota Digital gauges fit to the factory dash panels in the truck.

Final Touches

There are hundreds of little details on this truck that no one will ever notice, but that's what makes a ride like this one of a kind.
