Jesse's 1950 Chevy 3100

Jesse came to us looking for a simple driver that was reliable and fun to drive. And that’s just what this truck is. After completing some extensive metal repair on the floors we were able to dive into the build.

Exterior

This truck’s natural patina is so perfect it’s not worth messing with. Fresh glass and a set up 15″ steelies are just what this driver needed.

Engine & Drivetrain

Jesse wanted a reliable driver so we sourced a low mileage stock 4.8ls and a 4l80e transmission. The perfect combo for a drive anywhere cruiser. A ford 8.8 rear end was shortened and installed giving this truck 373 rear gears and a posi.

Engine Bay & Cooling

We shaved the firewall and painted it a satin black, this really helped clean up under the hood. A Cold Case aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan keep the 4.8LS temps right where they should be.

Chassis & Suspension

The factory frame was cleaned and painted. A mustang ll front suspension was installed along with a triangulated 4 link in the rear. Qa1 coilovers at all 4 corners keeps this truck planted and driving smooth down the road.

TESTIMONIAL

“I can’t say enough good things about Austin at Dwight’s Speed Shop. He took my 1950 Chevy pickup from an abandoned truck sitting in a field in Nebraska and turned it into something I can proudly drive…and I would be tempted to drive every day if we weren’t in NY! I absolutely love this truck, and Austin truly made a dream come true for me.

His craftsmanship is second to none, and he doesn’t cut corners. What I appreciated most was how honest and straightforward he was throughout the entire build. He worked through every decision with me, making sure the truck reflected what I wanted while also giving me his professional advice. The attention to detail and pride he puts into his work really shows, and I remember him specifically telling me he wants “happy customers”!

I couldn’t be more proud of the finished truck and would highly recommend Dwight’s Speed Shop to anyone looking for someone to do work on their classic or hot rod. ”
