Zach reached out to us with some engine noises in his ZO6. After some heavy diagnostics we decided it was best to open the 7.0L up to have a better look. Along with the engine refresh, we put a list of upgrades on this one.
Lucky for us the notorious LS7 heads had recently been re-worked. After tearing down the 7.0 we didn’t find anything overly concerning just some normal wear on internails. However a few pistons had some excessive wrist pin slop. Fresh wrist pin bushings took care of that. We also hones the cylinders and installed new cam and main bearings along with a new set of lifters. Zach was looking to make some power so we chose to do a Stage 2.2 LS7 Texas Speed Cam. This cam really woke the car up. While things were apart we decided to upgraded the clutch to a McLeod twin disc. This clutch has the best street manners but grips like no other when you are mashing the throttle.
A set of Texas Speed long tubes, high flow catted x-pipe, and Corsa cat back exhaust really brought this car to the next level. It sounds unbelievable when driving it hard but also sounds great at cruising speeds. The Corsa cat back is the key with zero drone when driving at all rpms.
